Donna leaves the café to clear tables in the garden, she is flustered and followed by Jamie who is telling her that they need to do something different to attract people to the night café. Donna tells him that she refuses to serve food outside as Betty will complain. Jamie continues to try and persuade her but she is adamant and gives him the leaflets telling him it's his turn to hand them out. Marlon has approached behind them. Jamie tells Donnas that she isn't the boss around here and she reminds him that she's the only one is acting like one. Jamie leaves disgruntled. Marlon suggests calmly that she throw him in at the deep end and leave him to get on with it, Donna tells him that she can't do that as she needs the business to work for them, Marlon mentions that while they are talking about them they spend the evening together but Donna reminds him that they are going to the draw together and that everything is looking up. Donna tells Marlon that the night café is the start of new beginnings for them and leaves Marlon who looks more than a little unconvinced.

Diane, Jack Victoria and Daz are walking through the village towards the Woolpack. Diane reminds Daz that he is working at six that night. Victoria asks if she can have a job but Daz tells her that she is too young. Jack sarcastically comments on him being grown up as he showed them yesterday. Diane reminds him that it wasn't Daz that started it. Jack passes Daz the keys and tells them they'll be right in. Victoria comments that they are going to have another row. Daz takes her inside. Jack tells Diane that Daz wont work for the Kings again, Diane agrees, Jack says Daz needs to be doing schoolwork and Diane tells him that he has told her he is knuckling down. Jack asks whether she believes him and Diane tells him that actually she does and she's found that a little trust goes a long way in families, she leaves a miffed Jack.

Marlon is struggling to sleep on the sofa at Smithy Cottage, his feet hang of the edge and as he turns he falls to the floor.

At Annie's cottage Jack is telling Victoria to apologise to Daz. She tells him she was only having a laugh and Jack asks her since when was it funny to tell someone their parents are splitting up. Victoria says it's funny unless you are thick enough to believe it. Jack tells her that she's the thick one because now she hasn't got any pocket money for a month. Diane enters and tells them that some people work late, Daz says he is sorry and Jack points out to Victoria that Daz can say he is sorry.

Adam is leaving the shop reading a copy of the courier, Pollard is behind him, also reading the paper. Pollard remarks on what a glorious day it is, he is looking very pleased for himself as he heads off towards the factory. Scott approaches Adam and asks how much he hopes to get for his car, Adam starts to tell him it is in great condition but is distracted by Turner who is just leaving Keepers.

It's Election Day and various unknown villagers are making their way to the village hall. Pollard is outside greeting people as they arrive. Marlon and Donna are just leaving, Marlon tells Donna that Friday is a busy night, Donna protests that she went to his family do, Marlon reminds her that he needs the night's wages and Donna reminds him that she got court marshalled and that Viv wouldn't do that to him. Pollard sees them and tells them he trusts that they cast their votes wisely.
